Boutique at Topshop
I love these promotional photos for Topshop's Boutique line. Although I am a major Topshop junkie, I love the edgy, rough photos and how they contrast with the delicate fabrics and beading of the dresses and the slouchy, soft tracksuit trousers with the wedges - my favourite look along with the dress in the hanging up in the last image.

Belle de Jour
On the catwalk, I didn't like the look of Christopher Kane's dangerously high-cut dresses, but in the photoshoot from this week's Sunday Times Style, I think it looks great, and really stood out as the show-stopping piece of the shoot. Still not sure about the wearability of the dress (think it would be very hard to pull off on the red carpet or any such event) but looks amazing with the surrondings of the shoot, the styling of the model and her sex appeal.
These are my other favourite garments from the photo-shoot: Crystal chandelier dress, worn with shirt, shorts and perspex sandals, all by Prada
Top and flesh-coloured skirt by Lisa Redman, with Prada shorts
Shirt and skirt both by Miu Miu. Even though you can't see the whole of the garment, I love the detail of the beading, netting and the pattern of the fabric, and how even though it is surronded by text still catches your eye.

Nancy Mitford
At the moment I am reading the 'Pursuit of Love', and soon to start 'Love In a Cold Climate' and Nancy Mitford has fast become one of my favourite authors. I love her funny, witty writing, her look at different types of love and all the characters of the Radlett family, with Uncle Matthew, Linda, and Jassy, being my favourite (her running off to America to marry an actor she has never met before is one of my favourite parts!).
As well as being a great author, Nancy used to be part of the Bright Young Things whilst growing up in the 1920s, and had fantastic, elegant style, wearing couture such as Dior and Balenciaga. These are the two images that I think illustrate this best, especially the floral dress and its silhouette.

Holly Fulton
These are my favourite pieces from Holly Fulton's 2010 fall ready-to-wear collection, my new favourite designer. I love the combination of sequins and glitz with the geometric lines, and the art deco influences thrown in too. The yellow shift mini dress, is a wonderful updated version of a twenties classic flapper dress, a style that I have always loved, with new york architecture influences. I also love her bright, optimistic colour palette, yellow's, orange's and blue's teamed with grey and black, providing a colourful contrast to the more neutral and sometimes dull colours offered for autumn.

FASHEMATICS!!
LOVE the idea behind the website FASHEMATICS! Think that it is a funny and clever look at some of the more outrageous fashion pieces. Have just picked out my favourites for this post, of Pedro Lourenco, Armani Prive and Givenchy.
Carey Mulligan
I stumbled across these images of Carey Mulligan photographed by Ben Weeler, whilst procrastinating from my work. Although I have never seen her in anything, I followed her wardrobe decisions through this season's awards shows, and agree with most other people that she definitely has natural style and can pull off looking classic and stylish but with a youthful edge and looking her age. My favourite was definitely the Prada dress she wore to the Oscars, with Prada obviously loving it to with them providing all the clothes for this shoot.
These images are from the April/May issue of Wonderland and are styled by Grace Cobb. I love the Twiggy-inspired style of the shoot! Although I do have a major soft spot for anything that looks remotely like Twiggy's modelling career from the '60s, I think that Carey and her delicate bone structure pulls off the dramatic eye make amazingly and that it works well with her pixie crop of blonde hair. My favourite garment choice of the photo shoot is the classic, tailored white shirt, the elegant style of it providing a visual contrast to the dramatic and daring eye make up. One of these days, I aim to be able to apply eye make like this!
Private Dancer
I love this photo shoot from the April issue of Vogue, photographed by Javier Valhonrat. The pin up imagery of Alberto Vargas is used as inspiration along with this season's lingerie-inspired dresses, corsets and blouses. This to me sums up the best that photo shoots from a hig-end fashion magazine like Vogue can offer; a pure sophisticated, dress up experience, showing the garments at their most fantasitical, teamed with dramatic, expressive eye make up, in a beautiful, atmosphere setting.
